Introducing… D-I-Y hurricane shutters in a box

In keeping with our mandate to listen and respond to our customers’ needs, Rapid True Value has expanded our product portfolio to include do-it-yourself hurricane shutters in a box. This product is an easy to install alternative to the traditional ply board used to batten down windows and doors in the event of a storm or hurricane.

The hurricane shutters in a box are standardised to fit windows ranging in sizes from 30” to 90” with the added versatility to be positioned vertically or horizontally.

The kit contains five panels and comes with all the necessary installation hardware. If your window requires more than the five panels, which comes in each box, customers have the option of purchasing more than one box to fulfill their requirements.

To find out how many panels you will need is quite simple:
Just measure your window from concrete to concrete then calculate:

  • Height + minimum of 6” = length of panel
  • Width divided by 12.5 = number of panels

This calculation is for flat walls without mouldings or other obstructions.

Tools required which are not supplied in the kit include hammer drill, tape measure and level. These tools are readily available at Rapid True Value locations islandwide.

Also available from all Rapid True Value locations islandwide are other hurricane essentials such as batteries, generators, lanterns, flashlights, wet/dry roof compound, flashband, plyboard, hammer, chain saws, plastic sheeting and rain suits. D-I-Y shutters now available at Rapid True Value.
